Press Photos Magazines Actually Use
Editors choose stories partly on the images available. A sharp, well-composed photo can decide whether your feature runs.
Technical basics
- High resolution, at least 2000 pixels on the long side
- Both landscape and portrait versions, since layouts vary
- Good, even lighting; avoid heavy filters
- Room around the subject so images can be cropped
Content tips
Include one clear portrait, one more candid or live shot, and one that matches your artwork's mood. Make sure faces are visible and not hidden by sunglasses or shadows.
Credit and permission
Always name the photographer and confirm you have the right to share the images. Editors will not run photos with unclear rights.
