How to Get Played on College and Community Radio
College and community stations are often more open to independent music than commercial radio, and many have specialty shows built around new artists.
Find the right shows
Browse station schedules for programmes that match your genre. Pitch the host directly rather than the general station address when you can.
Prepare a radio-friendly package
- Send a clean version if your track has explicit lyrics
- Include track length, genre and a short description
- Offer a high-quality download link, not just streaming
Follow stations' rules
Many stations have submission guidelines. Follow them exactly, and be patient, since volunteers manage most community stations.
Use the airplay
Ask for a screenshot of the playlist or a short clip and share it. Airplay adds credibility to your EPK.
